Fishing
Abundance of fish
Fishing aficionados launch their lines in Dakhla mainly for the “courbine” (the local name given to lean fish), some species of which may reach 70 kg. We also find a large number of lich, sea bream, Pagellus, eagle rays, guitarfish…. an abundance of fish to satisfy all the appetites.
The surfcasting in Dakhla Attitude
The surfcasting is practiced in Dakhla from the beaches; the fishing rod is vertically put in the sand or on a post with a line generously ballasted and baited. The fisher remains in touch with nature for hours, facing an ocean which is sometimes wonderfully dismantled. Patience is often rewarded by enormous picks, making the fisher proud and giving rise to improvised joyful animation.
Leisure activities
Wild and preserved sites
Dakhla has become an inevitable destination for the wild and preserved nature lovers. Situated in the extreme south of Morocco, this peninsula of sand provides travellers with guaranteed change of scene. It is a desert that attracts people for its beneficial silence and virgin dunes which contain a number of fossils and vestiges. Sheltered from the dunes, the lagoon sends its crystalline colours over many kilometres and provides promoters with shellfish with exuberant dimensions.
Furthermore, you can frequently come across, on your way, a large number of pink flamingo and migrating birds which build their nests in the bay, benefiting from its micro and temperate climate during the whole year. Contemplators will have what to be fascinated about and what to dream of. |
| Preservation and environment
“We don’t inherit the earth of our ancestors; we borrow it for our children”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
To meet the needs of the present generations without compromising those of the future ones, Dakhla Attitude has adhered to sustainable development through defining variable schemes that reconcile the three aspects: economy, society and environment. |
The ecological aspect
This measure is mainly based on the installation of a purification station, for treating water, using high technology and benefiting from the support of the associations working in the protection of the environment and the respect of the region’s heritage. |
The social aspect
Dakhla Attitude works together with the Hassan Senoussi Foundation, which is recognised as a public interest foundation, for taking charge of destitute young Moroccans aged around 12 and who like kitesurfing. These young children are trained and prepared for professional competitions in order to make of them future champions or future kitesurfing monitors. |
